Method Composer Future Integration

Date:June 3, 2012
Method Composer is the leading tool in process definition. It has a tremendous amount of functionality but needs to build more integration with Jazz in the future. The new features that align with the 4.0 release of the Jazz products allow for roles, work items types, and work item templates to integrate, however, there is just a start. Ideally, Jazz process templates would be maintained within RMC. States, permissions, etc... need to be synced.
Pros: integration

Best process authoring tool available

Date:October 3, 2010
I have been using this product full-time for the last four years as a Process Engineering consultant to government and industry. I've used many software products to document IT processes in the last twenty years, and RMC is the absolute best product I've encountered. It is feature-rich and is architected on the international Software Process Engineering Metamodel (SPEM) 2.0 standard, which uses atomic elements of method content (roles, tasks, work products, and guidance) to create separate workflows in terms of re-usable patterns and full lifecycle delivery processes, all stored and managed in exportable XML format.
Organizational processes are published in static HTML format and can be deployed on any internal file server or web server to be viewed and used by anyone in the organization who has access rights.
Be aware, though, that power has its price--in this case, RMC requires a significant learning curve, but once mastered, it is powerful enough to manage the process libraries of the largest organizations. I highly recommend this tool.
Pros: Helps us be smarter and more innovative, Enhances transparency of strategic, business, and development goals, Flexibility and best-practices ease adoption, Improves collaboration and team productivity, Helps teams identify and prioritize around business value
